The Mysuru Yuva Dasara, which ended on Saturday, was memorable this year due to performances by Badshah and Ilaiyaraaja, who were both praised for their love for the Kannada language. Badshah energized the crowd with his lively songs and concluded the event by speaking in Kannada, earning cheers from the audience. In his address, he humbly expressed that he is not a star or a singer, but a writer who shares his emotions with others. Videos of the rapper speaking in Kannada went viral on social media after the event.
Renowned composer Ilaiyaraaja, known for his work in over 30 Kannada films, posted a video on social media prior to the event where he spoke in Kannada and sought blessings at the Chamundeshwari temple the following day. After performing some of his favorite Kannada songs, he shared memories of his visit to Mysuru in 1974 for a private concert. Ilaiyaraaja also mentioned that he was the one who recommended having Dr. Rajkumar sing the song Yaare Koogadali for the movie Sampathige Savaal in 1974, thus beginning the legendary actor's singing career in Kannada cinema.
